Ismahar Ismail x Little Pipit

Little Giraffe Story House @ Cheras

Exploring new ideas for bonding activities with the kids during the weekend? Why not give your little ones and yourself a go at woodworking projects to craft something as simple as a wooden photo frame or if you’re looking for something a tad more advanced, perhaps a decorative-cum-functional wooden console or coffee table for the living room for a quick revamp!

Still not convinced that this would be a great idea? Well, Tools Library had partnered up with Ismahar Ismail in conjunction with the launch of our Balakong-based roving team (Tools Library on wheels) last December and together, we had headed to Little Giraffe Story House at Cheras, a community library mainly targeting parents and younger children, to share more on Tools Library’s vision and mission.

Besides sharing with them our purpose, we had also pre-discussed with Little Giraffe Story House to organise a woodworking session with the parents and their children for a meaningful weekend. During the event, we had seen how parents patiently guiding their little ones and how some parents are guided by our Tools Librarian in using the tools to turn their imaginative wood craft into a reality; it was truly a learning and bonding experience between the parent and their children.

Some of the interesting woodworking ideas that may inspire your next project with the kids are:

  • Spider Web Woodworking Craft (for the kid who loves a challenge)
  • Wooden Table or Stool (simple, functional item for kid who’s gonna be the next engineer!)
  • Wooden Building Blocks (create your own Jenga!)
  • Wooden Pethouse (could be a birdhouse, squirrel house or for Tom, the family cat!)

So, try it this weekend with the help of Tools Library tool rental service and you may share with us the exciting outcome; who knows, we might feature your project next to inspire others!
